Work on MCA's international cricket centre commences

Sumedha Earth Movers commenced the levelling and excavation work on the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) international centre at Village Gahunje on Saturday.

The main contract, expected to be finalised by August 2011, and the tenders of the final construction issued, the 44,000-seat stadium designed by leading architects from the UK will be completed in time to host an event in the forthcoming World Cup in the subcontinent in April 2011, a release said.

The project, managed Hopkins Architects, has Tata Consulting Engineers as its engineering consultants. The levelling and excavation will be completed in around three months. MCA officials, MLA Vilas Lande and other members of the Gahunje Gram Panchayat attended the commencing ceremony, said the release.
