Impressive bowling efforts by Sanjay Kumar ( 4 for 18) and Tanveer Khan ( 3 for 14) went a long way as their team— Standard Cricket Club defeated Jyoti Cricket Club by six wickets in their league match of the Ratan Lal Sharma Memorial Monsoon Cricket League at Pt. RB Tiwari Stadium, Lucknow on Monday.

The tournament is being organised under the auspices of Cricket Association Lucknow (CAL).

Batting first, Jyoti Club scored 84 runs losing all its wickets in 25 overs in the 30-overs-a-side match. Salman Umar (20) and Akhilesh Pandey (18) were the main run-getters. Sanjay Kumar bowled with good vision and took four wickets giving away 18 runs while Tanveer Khan took three wickets conceding 14 runs.

In reply, Standard Club romped home after attaining the set mark in 11.5 overs with six wickets to spare. Abhishek Saini with 34 was the top run-getter. Mohsin Khan and Faisal Khan took two wickets each.

Another league match of the same tourney played at Northern Railway Stadium between LDA Coaching Centre (LDACC) and Avadh Sky Sports Academy could not be completed due to rains and points were split between the two teams with each team getting 1 point.

LDACC piled up 193 runs losing four wickets in the given 30 overs. Sufiyan Khan (89 not out) and Manoj Singh (54 not out) performed well with the bat.

Avadh Sky Sports Academy was at 81 for no loss in the 15th over when the match had to stopped due to rains. Arjun Kumar (58 not out) and Nilendra Pratap Singh (20 not out) batted responsibly for the t eam.

Bridge tourneyDS Tandon and Dr DC Gupta bagged the top honors in the IMP pairs event held at Lucknow Club as a part of a weekly bridge tourney.Fifteen pairs played 11 rounds of 2 boards each.

DS Tandon and Dr DC Gupta won the IMP pairs with a good score and margin. The distinction of giving away the least number of IMPs (23) went jointly to them and B Prasad and RA Siddiqui. HP Misra and JR Gupta lost 8 IMPs in the last round to slip from second to fourth place.
