Afridi commends captain Younus Khan for his leadership qualities
Afridi credited Twenty20 World Cup win to Khan's enthusiasm and his never die attitude.
He said Khan did not let the players feel down even after subsequent loss in practice matches ahead of the tournament in England.
'I shall also give credit to Younus who guided the team to an unexpected triumph. We started off with losses in the practice games followed by defeat in the opener against England. However, the positive development was that not a single player lost his morale," Afridi said.
Afridi spoke high of his captain despite him (Younus Khan) being facing severe criticism for team's dismal show in the on-going Sri Lanka Test series, which the visitors have already lost 2-0.
"The unbiased approach towards players is one of the best characteristics Younus enjoys. He never considers from which province or city a player is coming. Quality performance is the top criterion for him to decide whether a cricketer deserves a place in the national team," The Dawn quoted Afridi, as saying.
Commenting on the forthcoming one-day series against Sri Lanka, the swashbuckling cricketer said he would prefer batting at number six.
"In the 50-overs format No. 6 is suitable for me as keeping wickets intact in the early stages in limited-overs cricket is imperative. While in Twenty20 I can bat top of the order, depending upon the need," Afridi said.Search Here For More Information : |
